Meet WeOwnTV youth filmmaker Yeali Thoronka. Yeali shares that as a very small child the only memory preserved from the day the rebels came is being pulled away from her mother. Eventually the war would mean the death of both of her parents, leaving her and her sister (Kanku Thoronka) to fend for themselves. Optimistic that “Our Own TV” can unite the community and create positive change, Yeali believes being part of the program will transform her life.

Aware of the impact film can have on his generation in visualizing a positive future and sharing images and stories of Sierra Leone with the world, Barmmy is committed to serving as a role model for his peers and creating as a musician and filmmaker.
